In 2012, Southeast Asian Transfer Enrichment Day (SEATED) was established by Southeast Asian student groups at UCLA. Their goal was to create a weekend dedicated to newly admitted transfer students. This year, the tradition continues: student groups involved in SEATED 2024 include the Vietnamese Student Union, Association of Indonesian Americans, United Khmer Students, Thai Student Association, the Association of Hmong students, Burmese Student Association, Singapore Students Association, Asian Pacific Coalition, and Southeast Asian Campus Learning Education and Retention.
SEATED seeks to promote higher education, increase community consciousness about transfer students, and provide a safe and supportive Southeast Asian community on campus for transfer students. SEATED also strives to connect Southeast Asian admits to opportunites and resources available at UCLA.
This event includes workshops, tours, student/alumni panelists. keynote speakers, and more. Prospective students will have a chance to experience student life at UCLA and will be welcomed to a family of students who are passionate about serving the Southeast Asian transfer community.
Our ultimate goal is to allow prospective students to experience what it might be like to be a UCLA transfer student in a supportive Southeast Asian community, and to build the next generation of empowered student leaders.
